Getting started with Engage

Updated this week

Overview

Engaging on LinkedIn is powerful and highly recommended, but it's also time-consuming. Scrolling through an endless feed, trying to find posts from the right people, and keeping track of who you've engaged with can eat up hours of your day.

Supergrow's Engage feature solves this by letting you create custom lists of LinkedIn profiles and company pages you care about most.

Instead of getting lost in the algorithm, you'll see only the posts that matter, engage strategically, and build meaningful relationships, all from one organized dashboard.

What You'll Learn

  • How to create and organize custom engagement lists

  • How to add LinkedIn contacts to your lists

  • How to fetch and view posts from your custom lists

  • How to engage with posts using manual and AI-assisted comments

  • Best practices for strategic LinkedIn engagement

Why Use Engage?

The Engage feature helps you:

  • Stay focused - No more getting lost in the LinkedIn feed

  • Save time - Engage with the right people without juggling multiple tabs

  • Build relationships - Consistently interact with your key network

  • Stay organized - Manage multiple lists for different audiences (clients, prospects, industry leaders, etc.)

Real benefit: Spend 15 focused minutes on Engage instead of 2 hours scrolling through LinkedIn.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Access the Engage Feature

  1. Log in to your Supergrow account

  2. Click Engage in the left sidebar under "Engagement"

  3. You'll see the "Engage & Grow" dashboard

You're in the right place if you see: "Be the first to engage with your favourite LinkedIn profiles and company pages' posts" at the top of the screen.

Step 2: Create Your First Custom List

Lists help you organize your engagement by audience or purpose.

  1. Click the "+ Create New List" button in the top right corner

  2. A popup modal will appear asking you to set up your list

Choose an Icon

  1. Click "Select Icon" to choose an emoji that represents your list

  2. Pick something memorable (e.g., 🎯 for prospects, πŸ’Ό for clients, 🌟 for industry leaders)

Name Your List

  1. In the "List title" field, enter a descriptive name

  2. Examples:

    • "Top Clients"

    • "Industry Thought Leaders"

    • "Weekly Engagement"

    • "Potential Partners"

    • "Team & Colleagues"

  3. Click "Create List"

Success indicator: Your new list will appear on the Engage dashboard as a card showing the list name, icon, and contact count.

Pro Tip: Create multiple lists to segment your engagement strategy. For example, one for clients, one for prospects, and one for industry peers.

Step 3: Add Contacts to Your List

Now let's populate your list with LinkedIn profiles and company pages.

  1. Click on your newly created list card to open it

  2. Navigate to the "Contacts" tab

  3. You'll see options to add contacts in two ways

Method 1: Add Contacts One by One

Best for: Starting small or adding specific individuals

  1. Copy the LinkedIn profile URL of someone you want to add

  2. Paste the URL into the input field

  3. Click "Add"

  4. Repeat for each contact

Method 2: Upload a CSV File

Best for: Importing large lists you've already compiled

  1. Prepare a CSV file with LinkedIn profile URLs

    • Create a spreadsheet with URLs in one column

    • Save as CSV format

  2. Click "Upload CSV"

  3. Select your CSV file

  4. Supergrow will import all contacts from the file

Pro Tip: Download the sample CSV file and add your data to it before uploading. Start with 10-20 key contacts per list. You can always add more later as your engagement routine develops.

Step 4: Navigate to the Posts Tab

Once you've added contacts, it's time to see their latest posts.

  1. Click on the "Posts" tab at the top of your list view

  2. You'll see two main sections:

    • Pending Posts - Posts you haven't engaged with yet

    • Filter options to organize posts

Step 5: Fetch the Latest Posts

Supergrow retrieves the most recent posts from your list contacts.

  1. Click the "Fetch Latest Posts" button in the top right

  2. Wait a few seconds while Supergrow gathers posts

  3. Posts will populate in your feed, showing:

    • Author name and profile

    • Post content

    • Published date

    • Engagement options

Success indicator: You'll see posts appearing in the feed with full content visible.

⚠️ Note: The first fetch might take a moment, especially for larger lists. Subsequent fetches are typically faster.

Step 6: Engage with Posts

Now comes the best part, engaging with your network efficiently!

For each post, you have two engagement options:

Option 1: Write Comments Manually

  1. Read the post content

  2. Type your comment in the text box below the post

  3. Click "Post Comment"

  4. The comment will be published to LinkedIn

  5. The post will be automatically liked when you comment

Best for: Highly personalized responses, deep insights, or when you have specific expertise to share.

Option 2: Use AI-Assisted Comments

Supergrow's AI can help you craft thoughtful, relevant comments quickly.

  1. Click the AI comment icon

  2. The AI will generate a contextual comment based on the post content

  3. Review the suggested comment

  4. Edit if needed to add your personal touch

  5. Click "Post Comment"

  6. The post will be automatically liked when you comment

Best for: Saving time while maintaining consistent engagement, especially for posts where you want to show support but don't have extensive commentary.

Pro Tip: Even when using AI, always review and personalize comments. Add a specific detail or question to make it feel more authentic.

Step 7: Manage Your Engagement

The Posts tab includes helpful features to stay organized:

Filter Options:

  • Pending Posts - Posts you haven't engaged with yet

  • All - See all posts, including ones you've already commented on

Actions:

  • Discard All Posts - Clear the current batch if you want to start fresh

  • Fetch Latest Posts - Get new posts from your contacts

Post Counter: The "Pending Posts" indicator shows how many posts are waiting for your engagement (e.g., "74 pending posts").

Auto Fetch Settings (Optional)

Want Supergrow to automatically refresh your lists? Enable Auto Fetch!

Step 8: Enable Auto Fetch

  1. Navigate to the "Settings" tab within your list

  2. Toggle "Auto fetch lists" to ON (green)

  3. Set your preferred refresh time:

    • Choose the hour (e.g., 6, 7, 8 AM)

    • Select AM or PM

  4. Optionally toggle "opt-out for email reminders" if you want email notifications

How it works:

  • Supergrow will automatically fetch the latest posts from your list contacts every day at your chosen time

  • You'll always have fresh content ready when you open Engage

  • Perfect for building a consistent daily engagement routine

Best Practices

Do This

Create focused lists

  • Keep lists under 50 contacts for daily engagement

  • Use multiple lists to segment your network

  • Name lists clearly by purpose or audience

Engage consistently

  • Block 10-15 minutes daily for engagement

  • Aim for quality over quantity in comments

  • Respond to replies on your comments to build conversations

Mix comment types

  • Share your own experience

  • Ask thoughtful questions

  • Offer congratulations or support

  • Add value with insights

Stay organized

  • Use "Discard All Posts" to clear old posts you've decided to skip

  • Regularly update your contact lists

  • Remove inactive contacts

Avoid This:

Don't spam generic comments

  • Avoid "Great post!" or "Thanks for sharing!"

  • Don't use the same comment template repeatedly

  • Never post comments just for the sake of engagement

Don't neglect personalization

  • Don't post AI comments without reviewing them

  • Don't engage if you haven't read the post

  • Don't comment on everything, be selective

Don't over-automate

  • Don't set and forget, check your lists regularly

  • Don't add people you have no intention of engaging with

  • Don't use Engage as a mass-commenting tool

Don't ignore notifications

  • When people reply to your comments, respond back

  • Build actual conversations, not one-way interactions
