Guide: How to create list on LinkedIn directly

Updated this week

Overview

LinkedIn's default feed can be overwhelming and filled with content you don't care about.

But there's a workaround: you can create custom feeds to see only posts from specific people you want to follow. This guide shows you how to set up theme-based feeds (like "Industry Leaders," "Team Members," or "Clients") so you can browse LinkedIn more intentionally.

Note: This currently only works on desktop/computer, not on the mobile app.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Start a LinkedIn Search

  1. Go to LinkedIn on your computer

  2. Click into the search bar at the top of your screen

  3. Press Enter without typing anything

  4. This loads a blank search page you can customize

You should see: An empty search results page

Step 2: Add a "Posts" Filter

  1. On the left sidebar, look for the filter options

  2. Click on "Posts" (if it isn't already selected)

  3. This ensures you only see posts, not profiles or company pages

Filtering by "Posts" keeps your feed focused on actual content, not search results

Step 3: Sort by Latest

  1. Look for the "Sort By" dropdown at the top of the results

  2. Click it and select "Latest"

  3. This shows the newest posts first instead of LinkedIn's algorithm-driven order

Now you'll see: The most recent posts appear at the top

Step 4: Add Members to Your Feed

This is where it gets powerful.

  1. Look for the "From Member" dropdown in the filters on the left

  2. Click it and start typing names of people you want to follow

  3. Select each person from the dropdown as you type

  4. As you add people, the feed updates in real-time to show only their posts

Step 5: Bookmark Your Custom Feed

  1. Once you've added all the people you want, look at your browser's URL bar

  2. Bookmark the page (Ctrl+D on Windows, Cmd+D on Mac)

  3. Give it a descriptive name that reflects the theme

    • Examples: "LinkedIn - Marketing Leaders," "LinkedIn - CS Community," "LinkedIn - Product People"

  4. Save the bookmark to a folder for easy access

Success: You now have a custom LinkedIn feed saved!

Managing Your Custom Feeds

Adding New People to an Existing Feed

  1. Open your bookmarked feed

  2. Click the "From Member" dropdown again

  3. Add the new person

  4. Update your bookmark:

    • Option 1: Edit the existing bookmark's URL

    • Option 2: Save a new bookmark and delete the old one

Creating Multiple Feeds

Repeat the process above for different themes:

  • Industry Experts - Thought leaders in your field

  • Colleagues - Current and former teammates

  • Clients - People you work with directly

  • Competitors - What others in your space are sharing

  • Mentors - People whose advice you value

Organizing Your Bookmarks

Create a LinkedIn Feeds bookmark folder in your browser:

  1. Right-click your bookmarks bar

  2. Add a new folder called "LinkedIn Feeds"

  3. Store all your custom feeds there
